These often exclude the application of national law to the international organisation. This means that national data protection authorities also do not have authorit over IGO&#8217;s. Founded in 1949, it has 47 member states, with a population of approximately 820 million. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u201cConvention for the Protection of Individuals with Regard to Automatic Processing of Personal Data\u201d (Convention 108) is a 1981 Council of Europe treaty that protects the right to privacy of individuals, taking account of the increasing flow across frontiers of personal data undergoing automatic processing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All members of the Council of Europe have ratified the treaty.
